Zoo Day

My kids (esp Bridget) love going to the zoo! Carter just likes to be outside, and since most of the zoo exhibits are outside, he's thrilled.

So we headed to the zoo on Wednesday. They have free days once in a while, and I suppose if I was really frugal I'd find out when those are and go on those days. But I condsider it totally worth $8.50 to go when it works best for us and there aren't 300 other mom's and crying little kids.

It was cloudy and not super warm and we only saw maybe 7 other people the whole 2 hours we were there.

We got to see the 4 new baby tigers, which was fun, and the mommy lion came right up to the glass! We had a picnic lunch before we headed to Target for diapers and wipes, and then came home for naps!

Pumpkin Festival

Because you know every true Mortonite has to have pictures of the festival and the parade.  :)

We went to the festival on Wednesday night and met Logan and Ashley for supper. The pumpkin chili was slightly disappointing with it's near pureed meat pieces, but the flavor was good. Bridget didn't eat a single bite of her $2.25 hot dog, and I'd forgotten Carter's baby food. All in all it wasn't a super fun experience with 4 kids under 2, and next year we'll probably just skip the food.

We went again on Friday night, mostly because I wanted a funnel cake and Luke wanted a lemon shake-up. I was convinced that we needed to take Bridget on some rides. Luke was quite convinced that we did not. So we settled on one "ride" and $6 later we here ready to down the slide. Bridget loved it and kept asking to go again. I probably would have let her, although I did have to agree with Luke that $6 per time was a little steep.

Then we went to the parade Sat morning. It was chilly early on, but I didn't think about it warming up later and being in the sun, so I think we all roasted most of the time. My mom, Adam, and Daniel and Wendi came and sat with us.

It took Bridget about 10 min to figure out how this parade thing works. And then she was heading out into the street waving and smiling, and get lots of candy dumped at her feet. And I mean lots. That whole basket was full to the top!

Carter was missing his morning nap but couldn't fall asleep in all the excitement. He hung out here with grandma for a lot of the parade.

New favorite activity: emptying out the cupboards and climbing into them.

 Mad face.  :)

Bridget has been going through this phase where everything needs to be undressed, including herself. This was just the beginning of it all. I thought it was funny that she'd half undressed herself and then fell asleep. A few nights later she was up talking and singing to herself till 11pm. When I finally went up there, I found her jammies on one end of the room, her diaper on the other, and she was sitting under her blanket, stark naked, singing Jesus loves me.   :)

Window

As in, we have one. In preparation for our "some time in the next ten years" basement finishing project, we had an egress window well dug, and my wonderful husband and Mark H put in the window Thursday night, Pardon the nasty wall. That room pretty much just grosses me out.

The reasoning for having the window put in so soon was that we had our yard re-graded and since they had the backhoe in our yard already, it wasn't much work just to dig the hole. Below is the back and side of the house, which is now seeded. The front is still a big dirt pile and yesterday turned into a huge mud swamp.

We sold our bedroom set!! Before it left our house the kids had one last romp in the "hole" under it. Unfortunetly our new bedroom set won't be in until the end of next week, so our clothes are still in laundry baskets and storage tubs. The kids are having a great time with our mattress, which is just sitting on the floor. They can climb up on it, and Carter just bails off the edge when he wants off.

I have lots of very eager help when I empty the dishwasher.

A few pics of our handsome little buddy.

We got a new mailbox and light, and painted our house numbers brown. Goodbye nineties gold!!

And last night we got to go meet sweet, sweet baby Jade. I've been having a little bit of baby fever lately and was a little nervous about what holding a sweet little newborn would do to me. But thankfully both kids were awful yesterday so I very much did not want another child when we headed to hospital.  :)
